Tea Preparation

Cast iron teapots and cast iron tea kettles are all that you need for your tea preparation. Nevertheless keep in mind that different types of teas have also different ways of preparation. To fully enjoy a delightful cup of tea you need to consider these few things.

Prepare the clean water before boiling it. Make sure that your cast iron kettle is clean and free of rust and stains. Since boiling water typically takes between 30 and 60 seconds to get to the perfect temperature you need to place the water in your tea pot. Make sure to allow the water to cool in a temperature more or less between 165-185 degrees before you pour it over the tea leaves. Do not use boiling water for your green tea and white tea as it might ruin the natural fragrance and taste of your tea. More or less the right temperature is 160 degrees for green tea and white tea tastes best at approximately about 185 degrees. If you don’t want to have a bitter taste tea then you must regard the importance of water temperature.

The amount of tea that you will need is less than what you might expect. For instance you can only use 2 grams of tea per cup to make an enjoyable tasting tea (1 teaspoon for a 6 to 8 oz. cup). You can actually use a full leaf as it produces more taste and aroma. If you want your green tea less on caffeine then you can just add more water on it. For another set of tea leaf you can steep it for 20 seconds and then pour off the water. Make sure to cover your cups or your tea pot to let the tea to steep properly. Give at least 1 to 2 minutes for steeping green tea while white tea takes 4 to 15 minutes to fully emit its natural fragrance. Smell your tea to see if it’s completely done. The secret of tasting tea depends on your preference, adjust the steeping time if you think you need more flavor than usual. You can also steep 2, 2, 2 (2 minutes for each cup) or 1-1-1 (one minute for each cup) for multiple cups but at the same time some teas also take less than a minute.

Black tea and oolong tea also needs fresh and clean water. Boil the water and maintain for about 1 minute. Rinse your cast iron tea pot and cups with hot water as it allows your pot and cups to get warm. Get your tea with more or less 2 grams (1 teaspoon) per cup. Pour boiling water over the leaves and allow them to steep for approximately 3 to 5 minutes. Again the taste depends on you as you can let the steeping time longer than usual to suits your flavor. Add some honey or milk for extra sweetness.

To fully enjoy your tea drinking take out now your cast iron kettle and cast iron tea pot. Boil some water, place your tea leaves and enjoy a delectable cup of tea!
