Cast Iron Teapot Popularity
Consider cast iron cookware if you want a unique gift for a loved
one or family member who loves to cook. It is one of the most basic pieces of cookware every kitchen needs. It is
the choice for most chefs and cooks everywhere, because it is very durable and versatile. It gives you high quality
food every time you cook, so you won’t have a problem. This traditional piece of cookware has been in use for
centuries, and is still a favorite for many people.
Cast iron teapot in particular is a very traditional form of cast
iron cookware. The Chinese were the first to use this, and it was called “yixing”. English teapots look very
similar in shape, but the cast iron teapot is more durable, as English teapots are usually made out of delicate
porcelain. It’s very fragile, and you need to be careful when using it. This is not the case when it comes to
cast iron teapots, as they are more solid. They won’t break even if you drop them. This doesn’t mean, however,
that they do not look delicate and beautiful on a set table. You’ll be able to see these one-of-a-kind teapots
in every design. There are a lot of intricate designs you’ll be able to find, and most of them are hand-drawn or
carved. These are very valuable, and are often considered as collectibles.
Cast iron teapots and kettles are also popular in Japan, although
the Chinese were the first to introduce them. They are called tetsubins and they are a big part of Japanese
culture. As we all know, the Japanese entertain using tea, and it’s no exception when it comes to what they
serve it in. Most cast iron teapots today are lined on the inside with a thin layer of enamel to prevent it from
rusting. In the olden days, nothing could keep these valuable kettles from rust and wear. Today, if you take
care of it, you’ll be able to use your cast iron teapot for generations to come. You might even be able to hand
it down to your grandchildren! Furthermore, they are a healthier way to brew tea. They add a small amount of
iron into the tea so you get a small dose of minerals along the way. This is because of the composition of the
teapot which is great for those who are anemic, or have iron deficiency problems.
Remember that you always need to season a cast iron teapot, to further prevent rust. It is a way to maintain
the perfect condition of the teapot, so it doesn’t get damaged. If you want, you can get these teapots with the
seasoning already baked on, so you won’t have a problem. You should keep in mind, however, that you can’t clean
this kind of teapot with regular soap and water. All you have to do is pour very hot water on the teapot. Keep
in mind that proper care makes your kitchenware last longer.
